Two weeks later I had a foot injury that nearly flushed away my marathon plans. I thought I was smart about slowly incorporating the new shoes into my training about six weeks before the marathon. Perhaps, not smart enough. Needless to say I managed to run the marathon anyway, albeit in a different pair of shoes.
After the marathon, I gave them another chance. Now I have, I hope, a balanced perspective on these shoes. Bottom line: I'm not impressed with them. No shoe works for everyone, and this shoe by and large works for me but the price tag is incomprehensible ($160). Here are my main complaints:
- Too expensive
- Too loud. These shoes make a lot of noise on asphalt, something I haven't heard for a while in a running shoe.
- Too heavy.
