30 Minutes: Scotland Heights Rd.

Starting from scratch means I haven't been running recently, which means I haven't seen some of my favorite places in quite a while. This morning I re-acquainted myself with Scotland Heights, a beautiful gravel road cutting through rolling farmland. Unfortunately, I managed just a taste with my 30 minute time goal. It's difficult, but critical, that I keep the mileage down in these first few weeks. My goal is to get four half-hour runs in a week for the next two weeks. Once I get my legs back under me, I'll introduce a longer run of 5-6 miles into the end of the third week. In the meantime, I'll shop around for longer-term training plans that work with my goals.

30 Minutes: Around Town

Today was the first day in a long time I decided I would go for a run AND went out of my way to do it: I went for a run BEFORE work. Granted, part of the reason is the high heat and humidity (pushing the heat index well into the 100s). The run proved what I already new, namely I'm in pitiful shape. But I did take the first steps that will start the foundation for a formal training plan in a couple months. By that point, I hope to have a big announcement about my future plans.
