Went running last night for over an hour (at 159 bpm). I ran onto Fairview and made a left on Morven Park (?) instead of a right on Old Waterford. It was nicely shaded and part gravel, part paved. There were some great hills. I think I will try doing an entire run on that road again sometime soon. By run's end, I felt great. I feel like I have my step back. Now I just have to work back to 10 miles!

30 Minutes
Made it out for a 30 minute run this morning. I didn't feel like a million bucks when I woke up, but after I finished my run, I felt great. I also did a full stretch afterwards. My average bpm was 156.
My weekend goal is to run both days, but shorter distances (5-6 miles). If I feel great on Sunday, I'll stretch it out a bit longer--maybe try the "Big Hill" run up Woodburn.
Anyway, it feels great to be back on the horse.

6 Miles
I ran 6 miles last night on the W&OD--an out and back. It was warm and humid, though cooler than usual due to a heavy summer storm that passed through a couple hours prior. Deer were out (I saw three). The trail was quiet--only a few people walking their dogs. And I ran SLOW. I finished in 1:03 at an average HR of 158. I guess I just need to get my feet back underneath me.

45 Minutes
On July 4 I ran 45 minutes. Since it was in the OBX and it was July, the sun was high and the air was hot and a little humid--basically about as bad as you can get. I basically followed my heart rate monitor, which told me several times I needed to walk, and I did. I don't think I covered a lot of distance, but it sure felt good to get back on the road. My average HR was 167.

Getting Really Bummed About This
I am really upset with myself for not maintaining my running schedule. There are many factors, including many ceremonial happy hours related to Amy and I switching jobs. Furthermore, I really felt rundown for a couple weeks, so maybe it was a smart decision--but maybe it was something I should have struggled harder through. Anyway, I'm hoping to squeeze in a run tomorrow morning before work.
